Following my recent email in regards to our forthcoming reunion I have heard from B
Bernadette Irvine that her husband David Charles Irvine , Lt Cdr (RN Retd) had sadly passed away 7th October 2018, aged 77. I see from our records that David and Bernadette lived in Hobart, Tasmania.

Dear Shipmates et al,

It is that time of year again where I need to ask that you inform if you are intending to attend at this years Remembrance/Reunion on Sat 25 May 2019. All details are adjacent on the Reunion tab.

As always I really do need to get a reasonable understanding of numbers and of course for security at Whale Island main gate for entry for the reunion part of the day.

Please email in due course with names and numbers of those coming with you.

I look forward to seeing many of you again in May.

Take care

Yours Aye - Chairman

HI Darren

I read your note and request with interest and lots of sympathy but sorry to say that COVENTRY did not have excocet weapons, so at this time I am not too sure which ship you refer to; however, I will endeavour to determine which ship it might have been with the clues you have stated.

Good luck with your task and I maybe able help at a later date.

I was hoping that someone may be able to help me with my daughter-in-laws research for her father (deceased 2000). He was a Warfare Communications Officer during the 1970\'s and early 1980\'s. The story that has been passed down is he was on the first HMS ship to enter the Suez canal with Exocet missiles aboard. The same ship was hit and damaged/ sunk in the Falkland war.
Does anybody know if HMS Coventry was the first HMS ship to enter the Suez canal with Exocet missiles aboard?

Any help you can give will be very much appreciated.
